You should know that my photography approach is two-part:
I photograph to remember, to uncover, to understand, to enhance, and to tell stories – like yours. My mission is to provide time-pieces that artfully frame real life. Whether it's a family session or a styled home; from fleeting and nuanced to milestone, I delight in capturing life in its commonplace and its most profound moments.
More than providing you images you'll love, my goal is to create an experience you'll love. I desire to help you feel comfortable in front of my camera. It's something I work equally hard on because I know what it's like to be on the other side. Photography is not transactional to me. It is relational. And it's an honor.
"In photography, the smallest thing can be a great subject. The little, human detail can become a Leitmotiv." — Henri Cartier-Bresson
“The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world. It requires profound purpose larger than the self kind of understanding.” — Bill Bullard
"We do not enjoy a story fully at the first reading. Not till the curiosity, the sheer narrative lust, has been given its sop and laid asleep, are we at leisure to savour the real beauties." — C.S. Lewis
About me & my heart
Whether it’s a walk down the street or your wedding day, my aim is to find the light and beauty wherever you are, and… perhaps contribute to it. Here's a little about me:
I also take on floral design work!
I designed florals for three weddings and two events in 2018, and I’m excited to see what 2019 has in store. Floral design has turned into a real passion of mine. If you’re interested in considering me for your wedding day or event, visit my floral page. I’d love to hear from you.
I love God.
It is by grace upon grace I'm able to do what I do. I can't ignore it. I'm grateful God uses every second of my 34 years of life to teach me the preciousness of it all. He has given me eyes to see the beauty, and He continues to reveal to me His work in you and in your story.
One of my favorite verses is in John 1 verse 8: "He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light." As a natural light photographer, it's not only integral to my work, but natural light also reminds me God is with me. He gives good gifts, and it is a privilege to do His work.
I love stories.
I'm a storyteller and documentarian at heart. It's a lifestyle. My photography was was born out of the need to create and to serve. I capture the nuances of the day, the shifts in light, and the in between moments. I love creating portraits that reveal your most natural, truthful, and beautiful self. Whether it's your brand, special day, time, person, event, space, or connection, I'm humbled and honored to capture it in photographs and in writing in an honest and artful way.
Storytelling with my
"Rachel's talent blows my mind. Her ability to capture real moments and the small details is amazing. She has such a unique talent so many people attempt but not everyone has an eye for. She has the ability to tell a story with the details. And I think what makes them so beautiful and genuine is the passion behind them." – Devin Sutter
"I cannot describe to you how giddy I was when I got [your] email this morning. We are so pleased with the photos & you did a masterful job...
We have such a balanced blend of romantic and playful and artistic, but it all still feels like us.
