You should know that my photography approach is two-part:

I photograph to remember, to uncover, to understand, to enhance, and to tell stories – like yours. My mission is to provide time-pieces that artfully frame real life. Whether it's a family session or a styled home; from fleeting and nuanced to milestone, I delight in capturing life in its commonplace and its most profound moments.

More than providing you images you'll love, my goal is to create an experience you'll love. I desire to help you feel comfortable in front of my camera. It's something I work equally hard on because I know what it's like to be on the other side. Photography is not transactional to me. It is relational. And it's an honor.

Photography Inspo

"In photography, the smallest thing can be a great subject. The little, human detail can become a Leitmotiv." — Henri Cartier-Bresson
“The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world. It requires profound purpose larger than the self kind of understanding.” — Bill Bullard
"We do not enjoy a story fully at the first reading. Not till the curiosity, the sheer narrative lust, has been given its sop and laid asleep, are we at leisure to savour the real beauties."  — C.S. Lewis

My photography was born from my desire to capture the beauty in your story.

Whether it’s a walk down the street, your workplace, or your wedding day, my aim is to find the light wherever you are. Here's a little about me:

I photograph a lot of things!
Families, weddings, imagery for branding, Our Chicago Stories, interiors for Houzz, stylings, food, flowers, travel, and more.

I love God.
It is by grace upon grace I'm able to do what I do. I can't ignore it. I'm grateful God uses every second of my 33 years of life to teach me the preciousness of it all. He has given me eyes to see the beauty, and He continues to reveal to me His work in you and in your story.

One of my favorite verses is in John 1 verse 8: "He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light." As a natural light photographer, it's not only integral to my work, but natural light also reminds me God is with me. He gives good gifts, and it is a privilege to do His work.

He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.
— John 1:8

I love stories.
I'm a storyteller and documentarian at heart. It's a lifestyle. My photography was was born out of the need to create and to serve. I capture the nuances of the day, the shifts in light, and the in between moments. I love creating portraits that reveal your most natural, truthful, and beautiful self. Whether it's your special day, time, person, event, space, or connection, I'm humbled and honored to capture it in photographs and in writing in an honest and artful way.

Client Responses

"Rachel's talent blows my mind. Her ability to capture real moments and the small details is amazing. She has such a unique talent so many people attempt but not everyone has an eye for. She has the ability to tell a story with the details. And I think what makes them so beautiful and genuine is the passion behind them."  – Devin Sutter
